Expensive Toys

So, yeah, we went out and bought me (Adam) a shiny new laptop one week ago tonight (Saturday). The best part of buying this laptop is that the next day the Best Buy add had it listed for $150 less. Luckily for me, Best Buy has a price guarantee that allowed me to take my receipt in and get a refund of the difference between my purchase price and the newly advertised price. Honestly, I was half expecting them to lower the price, but I sure wasn't expecting it to come down that much. Yes, it's a bottom-feeder, but all it has to do for me is surf the intertubes and check email. Any more would just be sitting here going to waste.

We also finally got Jacalyn's car back from the shop this week. The engine blew up a little over a month ago, and due to a few logistical errors, it took over a month to finally get completely fixed. That was also expensive, but we're both extremely happy to have it back running again. For one thing, it means we don't have to share one car between both of us anymore, which was sometimes okay, but mostly just inconvenient.

In mostly unrelated news, my best friend Joseph and his old lady Michelle were in town for the past few days for the 4th of July, and we got to spend some time together reliving the old times and catching back up with each other. As a side benefit, Michelle finally got to meet Jacalyn. Michelle was in the middle of a class of some sort for her job and wasn't able to make it out for our wedding. But she and Jacalyn had a good time getting to know each other during the past couple of days.
