I have two recipes that I deemed worth sharing. I've made them and love them!
Mascarpone Cream
1/2 a cup of fresh Mascarpone (I originally bought it to substitute Ricotta in another recipe)
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup fine sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
In the spirit of my MIL, when I made it, I sorta threw everything in there. I was afraid the Mascarpone was gonna go bad, since I decided not to try that other recipe, so I dumped the whole tub in. I layered the cream with blueberries and it was divine. Oh goodness, was it ever divine. I tried pineapples and Adam like that mixture, but I didn't like it as much as the blueberries.
Snow Ice Cream
1 gallon of snow
1 cup white sugar
2 cups of milk
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
A friend from church posted this from allrecipes.com and I finally got outside to grab some snow. I ran out of vanilla extract, and apparently I grabbed more than 1 gallon of snow (3 handfuls off the hood of the truck) so I added extra sugar and tried almond extract. It's currently re-freezing. We will see how it comes out.
Maybe you guys can try them and tell me what I did right (and/or wrong). I'm not cool like my friends, so I'm not going to post pictures of me cooking them, but maybe in the future?

My Kitchen Adventures
I think I am falling in love with my cast iron skillet and my pyrex. And boneless, skinless chicken breasts. And spices. And it seems that what I'm cooking is decently edible (adam has tried one of the recipes I've attempted; I have two more waiting on him when he gets home) which is all sorts of exciting.
And then I found a recipe for baked bananas (well, stick the unpeeled banana in the oven @ 300 degrees for 15 minutes--I drizzled honey over it and have gone to heaven)
I think I'm learning how to cook!

Success!
This weekend Jax and I went down to Dallas, where we were married a little over two years ago. We left Friday at about noon and got to my sister's apartment eventually. I would just like to say that having to deal with mindless road work in places where you already don't know your way around just isn't much fun. My parents were also there visiting with my sister, but they had to leave to go find a hotel before her hubby got home from work.
The next morning when we left for the temple, they left for Utah to go skiing. We ended up spending a good 6-7 hours in our favorite place on Earth. It was glorious.
After dinner, we got ourselves pretty well lost. Getting back from the temple to the apartment proved to be a bigger challenge than either of us could handle that late at night after eating massive quantities of food. I finally had a chance to eat at Fuddruckers, and it was pretty good. Not only was the burger just about the right size (1 pound of meat) but it was also pretty tasty. Anyway, we ended up going through the airport and paying the toll because we got lost enough that we didn't even know which way Arlington was anymore. Fortunately the guy working in the toll booth knew how to get us back on track. Also Jax was on the phone with Sis, so between her and the toll booth guy, we made it back so we could try to get some sleep.
After that, we embarked on a trial run for a new adventure. In August, we will be going to Indianapolis, Indiana to watch a motorbike race. This will not be just any motorbike race, but the premier racing class in the world: Moto GP. Anyway, since we're cheap we have been planning on making special arrangements for sleeping while we are there. We had a trial run over the weekend. We had a chance to iron out a few wrinkles from the original plan and also try to think of other ways to make it generally better at the end of August. I will let Jax tell you exactly what we did, since she took the pictures, but I feel pretty good about our plan.
