Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad Neely

This is not just any anniversary either! It's their SILVER anniversary! Twenty five long (hopefully happy) years of marriage. I really wish I had a digital copy of their wedding picture. They were SO beautiful! (My Dad even still had brown hair!!)

My parents started dating in May. Toward the end of July they were talking about getting married. I think the story goes that my mom was working a temporary job at a hotel in the middle of nowhere in the desert. It was a Wednesday and my Dad called the Los Angeles temple to find out that it would be closed for most of the month of August; that Saturday was the last available day. He called the gas station next to the hotel and had someone go find my mom. He told her what he found out and said "So do you want to get married Saturday?" to which my mom replied "Oh, I guess so!" (SO romantic!) My mom's friend made her wedding dress in two days (it's beautiful!) My grandparents lived in San Diego and they drove up to L.A. Friday night, where they met my Dad for the first time. My Mom said their wedding was super early Saturday morning and afterwords they went to lunch with my grandparents.

I love my parents so much! They have been the best two parents anyone could ask for! :)
Happy silver anniversary Mom and Dad!

Our Anniversary

Yes, it's true today is not the 30th and I said I would make my big post on the 30th, but here is why I didn't.

See, we started out by breakfasting here:

and I ate these delicious nutella crepes:

Then Adam let me get an adorable yarn holder (and I filled it already) here:and by the time we were done there, it was time to go see this:

Merry Christmas from my bosses! Not only did we see it for free, we saw it for free in 3D! That was definitely worth it.

When the movie was over, we made our way back home, at which point Adam informed me had a surprise for me that he had to go prepare, so I stayed at home cleaning, feeling pathetic for not doing anything surprising for him until it was time to go to grandma's for dinner. After dinner, he decided it was time to see my surprise, so he put the sleeping mask on me and drove around until I was confused (I didn't even make it off University, if you're wondering) until we arrived here:

The funniest thing about the Comfort Inn is that he called a bunch of different hotels here in Little Rock to see who had in-room jacuzzis not booked and Comfort Inn was the only one open that didn't cost as much as our monthly rent! We definitely love the Comfort Inn :)

So, all in all, it was definitely the best anniversary ever! It was the perfect way to end the year and gear up for a long, exciting year ahead of us!

It's almost the day

I have to admit I am a complete snob about December weddings. I am totally openly biased about them; I think December weddings are the best thing since sliced bread. I also find it completely funny that we got married in December after Christmas; we got married in 2006, but our first Christmas together was actually 2007.

I can't wait to make tomorrow's post. I love celebrating anniversaries as much as weddings. :)

Switcharoo

I'm really in a blogging mood. I thought of the 2nd post I was going to make, but I've decided to put it off for a few more days to see how things change. But I'm really in the mood and I've been meaning to post this for a few days now, so here it is!

December 2006:

May 2009:
Yeah, that's right. We switched wedding bands! How weird! I know couples where the wife's band fits completely through the husband's band, but we're not one of them. I honestly like it this way better. It's like I got new jewelry, without paying for it :)

May 16, 2009

Is there anyone in the world who is not doing something on May 16 this year? On the plus side, we have plenty of options for things to do.

1. Our ward is taking the primary and youth on a temple trip to Memphis that morning.

2. One of Jax's friends from her home ward is getting hitched in the Oklahoma City temple that morning.

3. Jax's younger brother has his high school graduation that night in Alma.

4. My favorite local motorbike store is having their "Super Saturday Sale" that day in Little Rock, which just happens to include a fabulous price on a set of tires, which I will be about due for in mid-May.

5. One of my motorcycle gangs has been invited to a motorbike rally in Missouri.

There's even more, but I can't remember it all since we already know which things we are going to be able to do and which things we are just going to have to skip. Is this what it's like to have a social life, only every day? Geez!

February First

Today is February 1st. It would have been my grandparents 63rd wedding anniversary. I wish I had a copy of their wedding picture to put up here to show you, but I don't. He was a month shy of 24 and she was 21. When she married him, she was already a widow! How crazy is that (by today's standards, pretty crazy, but by 1946's standards, maybe not so much.)

I don't know much about their marriage, or about my grandfather, but I've always admired both of them and have a special love for the month of February, particularly the first day. The diamond from my engagement ring is the largest stone from her original wedding set, the closest way I can honor them .

Neither one of them will ever see this, but I just wanted to tell them Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary!!

Two years ago today I married my best friend. Everything about that day was beautiful. In the temple I promised him time and all eternity, even though I didn't have the faintest idea exactly what that would include, and I love him more now than I did back in 2006.

I didn't have enough time earlier to make this post, so I decided to head to Subway, by myself, in my pajamas. Normally, I never go out in Little Rock at night by myself. Never. But I wanted this post to have this date and it's important enough to me to go. Adam is so important to me, I would follow him to the ends of the Earth. I still have my own identity, but I've built my world around him and I couldn't possibly imagine him not in my life.

I keep thinking of all the horrible stuff that we've been through, like the cars blowing up and his grandfather dying and the miscarriage, but really, it's all been for our good (even though we don't completely get it {a la the job hunt} right this moment.) All this experience we've gained has taught us so much, that we never would have had otherwise.

Tonight, while we were eating our Dippin Dots (this year it was pretty low key ;) I wondered what the next two years will bring. Where will we be? A house, an apartment, even in Arkansas (I really hope so!)? Will we have children, more miscarriages, or both? Will he find a different job? What sorts of experiences will we have in between now and then? Who knows where life will take us. We're trying hard to carve our future the way we want it to be, but God is still in charge.

Adam, I love you with all my heart and I'm so proud to be Mrs. Pearce! I can't wait to see what the future brings us! <3

We're Home

We're finally back home. My younger sister (Katy, for those who know her) got herself hitched to a fellow named Rex Hill this weekend down in Dallas, and we thought it would be nice of us to attend, so we did. Dallas is also the temple that we got married in, so we got to go relive a lot of old memories. Watching Jacalyn's eyes light up as we were walking around both inside and outside of the temple was amazing. Last weekend when we went down for Katy's endowment was the first time we made it back to Dallas since our sealing, and this weekend was just as good. But now we're both glad to be back home and out of the car.

On a side note, Katy and Rex got sealed in the same sealing room that we did, which we also thought was neat.
